Job summary

Morrisons is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Data & Analytics team in the Bradford area. You will build predictive models, optimise processes, and turn raw data into enterprise value, using Google Cloud Platform and Looker for insights and dashboards.

You will work across product and operations, mentor teammates, and deliver data-driven recommendations to boost performance while maintaining governance and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Strong programming in Python or R with clean, tested code.
• Deep knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and hypothesis testing.
• Experience building and productionising ML models (regression, forecasting, trees).
• Excellent SQL skills to profile large datasets from cloud data marts.
• Understanding of causal inference and experimental design.
• Ability to translate model outputs into visual dashboards and exec summaries.
• Awareness of data ethics, privacy, and bias mitigation.
• Experience with Agile or Waterfall delivery and MVP scoping.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to understand priorities.
• Solve complex problems using applied mathematics, ML, and modelling.
• Own data science deliverables across data products and present outputs clearly.
• Develop agile proofs-of-concept to showcase solutions to stakeholders.
• Mentor squad members in programming, code structure, and validation.
• Drive fast, value-driven turnaround for smaller analytic requests.
• Focus modelling on commercial returns to improve EBITDA.
