The Compliance Operations Rapid Solution (CORS) is a support function within the Global Solutions and Risk Compliance (GSRC) team. CORS provides software development, analytics, data engineering, and data science capabilities to assist GSRC in its responsibilities. The GSRC team works closely with regulators, industry experts, vendors, and sellers to continually improve how products are classified and the safety measures in place for customers.


We (CORS-Data Science team) are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to drive innovation in our program. In this individual contributor role, you will craft intelligent AI solutions to empower GSRC associates and remove pain points in compliance tasks. The vision is to maximize the productivity and quality of every GSRC associate through AI-enabled assistance.


Key job responsibilities
• Identify high-impact opportunities within GSRC and lead the ideation, planning, and execution of science initiatives that leverage the latest advancements in machine learning, large language models, and agentic AI to address them.
• Develop intelligent algorithms/analytics that can extract meaningful signals from diverse data sources and generate actionable recommendations to improve compliance outcomes, leveraging Amazon's extensive data repository.
• Collaborate closely with GSRC business leaders and cross-functional teams to implement AI-powered solutions that are tailored to their specific needs and seamlessly integrate into their existing workflows.
• Proactively identify opportunities to leverage and adapt existing innovations from across Amazon to address our evolving needs.
• Build and deploy ML/AI models using computer vision, natural language processing, deep learning, and other innovative techniques to analyze and enhance the productivity and quality of GSRC associates' work.
• Partner with the CORS Engineering and Planning & Execution teams to integrate and deploy your solutions, ensuring seamless adoption by GSRC associates.



About the team
CORS is GSRC's primary support function and has four sub teams: i)CORS-Software Engineering ii) CORS-Analytics, iii) CORS-Sciences, and iv) CORS-Engineering. CORS-Sciences (CORS-S) is responsible for building data science solutions that improves operational productivity and reduces operational defects in GSRC. We are a global team and are spread across Romania, Poland, Jordan, China and India.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- 3+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
- Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working on projects that involved integrating generative AI/ML solutions into existing business workflows and processes
- Exhibits excellent business judgment; balances business, product, and technology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with non-technical and technical audiences.
- Experience working with large real-world data sets and building scalable models from big data.
- Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution.
