Job summary

Avencia Talent Solutions Limited is partnering with a leading international insurance business to appoint a Data Scientist to develop and embed a dedicated Claims Analytics capability. You will apply statistical analysis and machine learning to improve claims performance, operational efficiency and business decision-making.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building statistical models and ML solutions.
• Experience in insurance, especially Claims Analytics.
• Strong programming in Python or R with SQL experience.
• Experience with large, complex datasets and turning data into insights.
• Knowledge of ML techniques for business problems.
• Understanding of insurance data and lifecycle.
• Experience with unstructured data or text analytics/LLMs is a plus.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Commercial mindset to drive analytical projects end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver statistical and machine learning models for Claims.
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends and opportunities to improve performance.
• Apply data science to forecasting, triage, severity, recoveries, and planning.
• Work with structured and unstructured data including claims records and notes.
• Build predictive models and analytical tools that support decision-making across the claims lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Portfolio Management and Technology teams.
