Job summary

Morrisons is seeking a Data Scientist to drive value from data across operations from field to fork. You will build predictive models, optimise processes and translate analytics into actionable enterprise insights using a Google Cloud data platform.

You will combine mathematical rigour, software development, and statistical storytelling to solve business problems, supporting strategic decisions with data-driven evidence. The role emphasizes governance, privacy, and ethical AI.

Qualifications

• Strong programming in Python or R with SQL/Java/C++ familiarity.
• Deep knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and tests.
• Experience building/productionising ML models.
• Advanced SQL for large-scale data profiling.
• Experience with Looker dashboards and data storytelling.
• Familiarity with Agile/Waterfall delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to understand context.
• Solve complex business problems using ML, statistics and data science.
• Own data science deliverables across the data products lifecycle.
• Create reusable pipelines and feature sets with validation checks.
• Apply causal inference and experimental design to measure impact.
• Ensure governance, privacy, and ethical AI practices.
