Job summary

Deliveroo in London is hiring a Data Science Manager to lead the Merchants data science team and shape analytics strategy across merchant acquisition, onboarding, support and retention.

You'll manage a team of four to seven data scientists, translate complex data into product and operational decisions, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Strategy, Operations and Commercial teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a fast-moving marketplace.

Qualifications

• Experience line managing data scientists and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong background as a senior data science individual contributor.
• Expertise in experimentation, causal inference or applied machine learning.
• Ability to guide technical work and translate data science into product, operational or commercial decisions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders.
• Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritise effectively and shape a clear roadmap.
• Experience working with merchants, marketplaces, restaurants, grocery, retail or B2B products is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Own the analytical direction and measurable impact of a defined area within Merchants.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately four to seven data scientists.
• Shape growth and bring structure to a fast-moving and ambiguous environment.
• Work across areas such as merchant acquisition and onboarding, including identifying valuable partners.
• Improve models to understand restaurant, grocery and retail supply.
• Improve merchant order management and reduce defects.
• Manage merchant accounts, churn and retention.
• Develop self-service tools and partner communications.
• Guide the team’s analytical approach to drive product, operational or commercial decisions.
