Job summary

Teya is building a fintech platform for local businesses across Europe. We are seeking a Data Science Manager to lead the data science function within the Credit & Analytics team, owning credit risk, pricing and customer value models that underpin lending products.

You will lead a team of data scientists, set the modelling roadmap, and ensure models are statistically sound, robust, and commercially meaningful. This role offers a fast-paced fintech environment in Central London.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in data science or quantitative modelling, with strong hands‑on experience in credit risk modelling, ideally in SME lending within a fast‑paced environment (fintech, scale‑up etc.).
• 2+ years' experience leading or managing data scientists, including hiring, coaching and developing team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of data scientists. Set clear goals and performance conversations.
• Own hiring for the data science team, defining profiles and rigorously interviewing.
• Translate credit and commercial priorities into a data science roadmap and prioritise impactful work.
• Lead the development of credit risk models, risk-based pricing engines and customer lifetime value frameworks.
• Shape the framework for credit decisioning and collaborate with Product, Engineering and Credit Strategy to productionise models.
• Own model governance across lifecycle including validation, testing and monitoring.
• Identify new data sources and modelling techniques to gain competitive edge.
• Present models and business impact to leadership and translate outputs into actionable recommendations.
