Job summary

Cleo in the United Kingdom is seeking a Head of Data Science to lead credit performance measurement within the Risk & Payments pillar. This player-coach role combines hands-on analysis with team leadership and directing a team of Credit Data Scientists and Analysts to deliver actionable insights and robust risk metrics.

You will own the credit metric framework and work with Risk Modelling to translate metrics into policy and product decisions, bridging model health with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and Python skills with hands-on data warehouse work
• Track record owning analyses from framing questions to shipping changes
• Hands-on experience with predictive models (credit/fraud) and model metrics
• Experience managing analysts or data scientists and developing people
• Nice to have credit products or UK/US regulatory awareness

Responsibilities

• Own credit performance measurement and risk metric framework (arrears, default, yield, LTV)
• Bridge model health and business decisions with risk modelling teams
• Lead root-cause analyses (SHAP, feature importance) and present findings to leadership
• Support policy changes with evaluation frameworks and profitability modelling
• Directly manage and develop Credit Data Scientists and Analysts
