Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions in Birmingham is partnering with a well-known in-house organisation to appoint a Data Governance & Compliance Officer (DPO). This high-visibility role owns the data protection framework and engages with senior stakeholders to drive governance, privacy and regulatory compliance.

You will lead DPIAs, DSARs, LIAs, DPIAs; manage data processing agreements; interact with ICO; deliver training; and help shape a mature data protection culture in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in data protection, compliance, legal, audit or risk roles.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act requirements and ICO guidance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for data privacy and governance matters.
• Lead data protection audits across the business and third-party suppliers.
• Maintain and enhance the data governance framework.
• Advise senior leaders on privacy, risk and compliance issues.
• Manage DPIAs and LIAs.
• Support responses to DSARs and FOI requests.
• Review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements with suppliers.
• Liaise with the ICO on regulatory matters.
• Deliver training and awareness programmes on data protection.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing compliance.
