Job summary

Collinson is seeking a Data Protection Governance Specialist to support the development, maintenance and enhancement of the data protection compliance framework. You will work with the Data Protection team to ensure policies and governance materials are accurate, practical and aligned with legal requirements.

You will help strengthen accountability, improve framework maturity and support the business in applying data protection requirements in a clear, risk-based way.

Qualifications

• Accredited qualifications in information governance, records management and/or data protection.
• Expert knowledge of data protection across jurisdictions and compliance management.
• Proven experience in advising on data protection programmes in complex environments.
• Able to explain data protection risks clearly to the business.
• Proven project management skills with delivery focus.
• Strong risk management and compliance knowledge.
• Ability to identify risk and provide concise feedback.
• Attention to detail and decisive in issue resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organised with strong time management and deadlines.
• Experience with tools to train and improve risk culture and policy development.
• Solid understanding of regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance and enhancement of the data protection framework, ensuring policies stay accurate and aligned with laws.
• Review and update data protection policies, templates and playbooks.
• Improve structure and accessibility of core data protection documentation.
• Help embed governance processes across the business with clear ownership and escalation.
• Assist with accountability framework alignment with regulatory expectations (ICO).
• Maintain governance records and evidence of compliance.
• Develop practical guidance on lawful basis, transparency, retention, transfers and DPIAs.
• Identify gaps and propose proportionate improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement framework improvements.
• Prepare data protection reporting materials and dashboards.
• Develop and refresh training and awareness materials.
• Roll out updated policies and guidance and support audit readiness.
• Monitor changes in processes/regulatory expectations.
