Job summary

Elevate is supporting an AI technology company in its search for an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6-month contract to provide legal advice across privacy and data protection matters as the business develops AI-driven products. You will advise on GDPR compliance, DPAs, data transfers, and privacy notices, and work with commercial, product, and engineering teams. UK-qualified solicitor with strong UK GDPR knowledge is required.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified solicitor with experience in data protection and privacy law.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, or digital businesses.
• Ability to work independently and with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, and data transfers.
• Draft and review privacy notices and DPAs.
• Counsel product, engineering and commercial teams on privacy risks.
• Support privacy governance frameworks and policies.
• Monitor regulatory developments in AI and data protection.
• Coordinate with external advisers as needed.

Our customer, an AI technology company is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6 month contract role to provide legal advice across a broad range of privacy and data protection matters. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced technology environment and support the business as it develops and scales AI-driven products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, international data transfers and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support privacy considerations relating to AI products, technologies and data use.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.
• Advise commercial, product, engineering and business teams on privacy risks and requirements.
• Support the development and implementation of privacy policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law, ideally gained in-house or within a leading technology-focused law firm.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and wider EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy, regulatory or data governance matters would be highly desirable.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
