Job summary

Elevate is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6-month contract to provide legal advice across privacy and data protection matters as its AI-driven products and services scale. The role requires strong UK GDPR knowledge and a track record in technology-focused environments.

You will work with internal teams across commercial, product and engineering, and liaise with external advisers to ensure compliant privacy practices as the business grows.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law, ideally in-house or at a technology-focused law firm.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and wider EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy, regulatory or data governance matters is desirable.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, international data transfers and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support privacy considerations relating to AI products, technologies and data use.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.
• Advise on privacy matters to commercial, product, engineering and business teams.
• Support development and implementation of privacy policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.
