Job summary

ITV plc is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the hybrid team in London/Manchester. You’ll deliver technical implementations of the data platform, collaborating with product owners, architects and data users to build scalable data products and secure, governed data services.

The role requires experience with GCP, IaC, containerisation, and scripting in Python or Ruby. You will work within a fast-paced Central Data Team that supports analytics and machine learning, encouraging automation

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with infrastructure as code and containerisation.
• Knowledge of automation and monitoring tools.
• Experience with Git and version control.
• Designing, building and operating highly available, scalable data platforms.
• Familiarity with Unix-based OS (Mac/Linux).
• Proficiency in Python or Ruby scripting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the technical implementation of the data platform, collaborating with product owners, architects and end users.
• Work with Data Engineers to design, build and maintain data products delivering analytical data to users and systems.
• Solve challenging technical problems and drive platform improvements.
• Keep the platform simple by following the Principle of Least Astonishment.
• Maintain a common set of tools and standards across teams and enable data teams (Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts).
• Ensure Data Platform remains secure, governed and well managed.
• Build new platform capabilities with self-service in mind.
• Monitor the platform to anticipate issues before stakeholders see them.
