Job summary

The Law Society is seeking a Data Officer to join its Data and AI team at an exciting stage of our data transformation journey. You will help improve data quality, accessibility and integrity across the organisation, serving as a central point for data quality queries.

Working with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders, you will embed data governance, enable confident data access, and turn complex datasets into clear insights and reports, using SQL, Python and BI tools.

Job description

Join the Law Society's Data and AI team at an exciting stage of our data transformation journey. Following the successful implementation of our first enterprise Data Platform, we are looking for a Data Officer to support the next phase of our data and analytics capability.

As a Data Officer, you will play a key role in improving the quality, accessibility and integrity of data across the organisation. Acting as a central point of contact for data quality queries, you will work closely with the Data Enablement Manager to identify, analyse and resolve data issues, helping to improve data quality at source and ensure data can be trusted to support decision-making.

Working collaboratively with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders across the Law Society, you will help embed good data management practices, enhance data governance and enable colleagues to confidently access, understand and use data to drive business outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and supportive Data and AI team, where you will contribute to the development of our data capabilities, work with modern data technologies and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of data at the Law Society.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a passion for data and analytics who can bridge data expertise with business needs. You will have experience improving data quality, cleansing data and resolving issues across multiple systems and data sources, alongside strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate complex datasets and turn findings into clear, actionable insights and reports.

You will possess SQL skills and practical experience using Python for data analysis and data quality activities, together with a solid understanding of data governance, master data management, metadata, lineage, classification, data quality frameworks, data lifecycles and maturity models. You will also have a good understanding of data protection, GDPR, data security, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues at all levels. You will have experience supporting data governance forums, data communities and organisation-wide data literacy and awareness initiatives. Experience using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar tools for reporting, visualisation and data storytelling is also desirable, along with a proactive, organised and collaborative approach to problem-solving .
