Job summary

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in Bracknell is seeking a Data Governance and Quality Officer to guide colleagues across the organisation. Qualifications

  • Maintain and evolve the Data Governance Framework, including data catalogues, integration catalogues, and the business glossary.
  • Experience in a CRM, Data Governance, or Data Quality role, ideally within a membership, non-profit, or regulatory organisation.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data exploration, profiling, and supporting data quality analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data issues into clear business risks and actions for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence data owners and colleagues whose primary focus may not be data.
  • Strong understanding of the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, with practical experience applying regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and approve new data quality rules across Accuracy, Completeness, Consistency, Timeliness, and Validity.
  • Perform data quality assessments to identify duplicates, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies in member data.
  • Lead data cleansing initiatives and prevent recurring issues.
  • Contribute to the ongoing roadmap for enhancing data governance and quality capabilities.
  • Provide guidance on data ethics and the responsible use of member data and insights.

Location: Bracknell/Hybrid working
Working Hours: Full Time, 36 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £39,869 per annum

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Governance and Quality Officer to apply well-developed knowledge of data governance and quality to guide colleagues across the organisation.

The role supports the development and implementation of governance frameworks, policies, and standards that keep CIOB’s data accurate, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose. You will work with autonomy, to provide informed advice to teams on maintaining the integrity of member records, meeting GDPR requirements, and improving data practices across global regions.

You will monitor data quality, highlight risks, and recommend improvements, the role helps ensure CIOB has clean, trusted information that strengthens decision-making, reduces compliance concerns, and supports consistent, professional data management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities will include:
