Job description

Overview

At La Fosse, our mission is to make careers, and the lives they transform, more accessible to all. For over 18 years, we've partnered with some of the UK's most ambitious organisations to build and scale high-performing technology and digital teams. La Fosse Academy sits at the heart of this mission. We equip individuals with the skills and confidence to thrive in digital careers, while helping organisations unlock long-term value through upskilling, reskilling, and early-career talent programmes. Our new apprenticeship provision marks the next stage of this journey. It enables people already in work to grow into new roles and supports employers to deliver real business outcomes through high-quality, compliant, and scalable talent development programmes built to last.

As we scale our apprenticeship offering, robust data foundations and real-time insight are critical to our success. The Data Manager will take ownership of all data processes and systems supporting apprenticeship delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and visibility from enrolment through to completion. This is a foundational role in a growing programme. You\'ll design and embed scalable data infrastructure, lead on ILR submissions and reporting, and provide the insight that enables confident decision-making across delivery, compliance, and performance. You\'ll work closely with internal teams, external partners, and regulators to ensure our apprenticeship programmes are compliant, audit-ready, and set up for sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Data Ownership & Compliance

  • Own the end-to-end management of the Individualised Learner Record (ILR), including submissions and resubmissions.
  • Ensure learner data is accurate, complete, and compliant with ESFA and DfE funding rules.
  • Maintain audit readiness through strong data governance, version control, and clear documentation.

Systems & Reporting

  • Design and manage reporting frameworks to support levy drawdown, compliance monitoring, and operational performance.
  • Build dashboards and tools that surface meaningful insight across learner progression, risk, and funding eligibility.
  • Provide timely, visual data to support monthly and quarterly performance reviews.

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Partner with the Head of Training and Quality & Compliance Manager to track learner journeys and proactively flag risks.
  • Work closely with delivery, onboarding, and operations teams to ensure accurate enrolment and learner tracking.
  • Build strong relationships with IT, MIS providers, and external systems partners.
Requirements

You'll bring proven experience owning data and reporting within a funded apprenticeship environment, with a clear understanding of what good looks like from day one.

  • Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end apprenticeship data, including ILR submissions, resubmissions, and validation processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of ESFA funding rules, PDSAT requirements, audit evidence packs, and compliance expectations.
  • Experience supporting Ofsted readiness through accurate, consistent, and well-governed data.
  • Confidence owning data quality and governance, including learner records, version control, documentation, and audit trails.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining reporting frameworks and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Excel, or similar.
  • A track record of working closely with delivery, quality, and operations teams to track learner journeys, identify risk, and surface insight early.
  • Experience working with MIS platforms and external systems providers, acting as a knowledgeable and proactive point of contact.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing or evolving provision, where processes are still being built and data foundations matter.
