Job summary

Cititec is seeking a Data Lead for a 12-month contract in London with hybrid working. The role focuses on turning architecture into production data pipelines, guiding event-streaming and lakehouse initiatives within a modern cloud data platform.

You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and collaborate with streams, storage, and governance teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

Data Lead | 12 month initial contract | Up to £1200/day Outside IR35 | London - Hybrid | Streaming, Lakehouse & Cloud Data

A large trading organisation is rebuilding its enterprise data platform, bringing together streaming, storage, transformation and governance into one shared platform for the business.

We need a hands-on Lead or Principal Engineer to turn architecture into working software: guiding event-streaming pipelines, production data pipelines on a modern lakehouse stack, and setting standards other engineers build on.

You'll need:

• Led the build or major modernisation of a production data platform
• Strong hands-on experience with a major streaming technology (Kafka or equivalent)
• Production experience with a lakehouse/Spark-based analytics platform
• Strong Python/SQL and a major public cloud
• Comfortable mentoring engineers and setting technical direction across teams
