Job summary

Cititec is recruiting a hands-on Technical Lead to build an enterprise intelligence platform for a top-tier global trading firm in London. You will own the architecture, implement components end-to-end, and directly influence production systems.

You will lead engineers, establish CI/CD and IaC, and work with AWS and Databricks, streaming pipelines with Kafka/Kinesis/Flink. You will develop knowledge graphs and governed AI capabilities while aligning with security and governance requirements.

Job description

I'm hiring a hands-on Technical Lead to help build a new enterprise intelligence platform at a top-tier global trading firm.

You'll work alongside exceptional engineers on a well-backed programme, with real ownership of the architecture, the implementation and the technical decisions that will shape the platform for years.

Having spoken with the hiring manager, I think the combination of engineering depth, ambition and ownership makes this one of the most interesting opportunities I'm working on in London.

The opportunity

Bring together high-volume streaming, lakehouse infrastructure, low-latency analytics, knowledge graphs and governed AI into a connected production platform.

The foundations are being put in place now. You'll take the target architecture through the first working components, initial data products and production scale, building the capabilities that other engineering teams will use.

What you'll get your hands into

• Building the AWS and Databricks foundations, including Delta/Iceberg lakehouse storage and catalogue capabilities.
• Engineering and operating streaming and CDC pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis and Flink.
• Delivering low-latency analytical serving through ClickHouse or comparable technology.
• Building knowledge graphs and semantic layers that connect data with business meaning.
• Enabling governed AI retrieval and agent capabilities, with appropriate identity and access controls.
• Connecting cloud infrastructure with existing on-premises systems and working through migration and data-residency requirements.

This is a deeply hands-on leadership role.

You'll write code, build POCs, get components running and work through performance, observability and reliability yourself.

You'll establish CI/CD, infrastructure as code, testing and engineering standards. You'll also lead internal technical leads and specialist delivery partners, keeping their work aligned to a coherent architecture and delivery plan.

Who I'd like to speak to

Engineers who have personally built and operated substantial data platforms from the ground up, with sustained ownership through delivery, production and growth.

You'll bring strong software engineering skills, depth in AWS, streaming and Databricks or comparable lakehouse platforms, alongside practical experience with analytical serving, knowledge graphs and hybrid infrastructure.

You'll be comfortable getting into schema design, pipeline behaviour, deployment and reliability, as well as making architectural decisions and developing other strong engineers.
