Job summary

IG Group is seeking a Data Governance Lead to scale and implement the governance framework across the organisation. You will turn policies into working standards, embed data ownership, and drive day-to-day governance across Risk, Compliance, Data Engineering and Product teams.

The role is a senior individual contributor position within the Data & AI team, reporting to the Head of Data Governance & Strategy. Experience in UK financial services is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data governance within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection regulations.
• Ability to design processes that fit an existing governance operating model.
• Experience defining data quality metrics and remediation processes.
• Technical understanding of databases, data warehouses/lakes and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Evolve the data governance framework and define standards.
• Identify data owners and coordinate governance activities.
• Run governance forums with IT, Legal, Compliance, and business to decide on data policy and priorities.
• Define and monitor data quality standards and KPIs.
• Develop and administer governance tooling and glossaries to keep data accurate and up to date.
• Oversee data access and classifications with Security/IT to enforce controls.
• Support audits and risk assessments with governance documentation.
• Champion data literacy and culture change across the organisation.
