Data Idols in London is seeking a Data Governance Lead to own the governance strategy, focusing on data privacy, quality, ownership and retention across the organisation.

You will collaborate with data engineering and analytics to translate governance requirements into practical solutions, establish scalable frameworks, and improve data visibility and lineage.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading, developing or scaling data governance programmes.

Data Governance Lead

Salary: £125,000 – £135,000

Location: London | Hybrid

Data Idols are working with a leading organisation that is investing in and strengthening its data capabilities. They are looking for a Data Governance Lead to take ownership of their data governance strategy, helping to shape how data is managed, protected and used across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a data governance programme, combining strategic ownership with a practical approach to improving data standards, privacy and compliance.

The Opportunity

As a Data Governance Lead, you’ll take ownership of the data governance roadmap, identifying gaps, defining priorities and driving improvements across data privacy, quality, ownership, access and retention.

Working closely with data engineering, analytics and business stakeholders, you’ll translate governance requirements into practical solutions, ensuring standards and processes are embedded across the organisation. You’ll also play a key role in improving data visibility, classification and lineage, establishing scalable governance frameworks and empowering teams to manage data responsibly and effectively.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience leading, developing or scaling data governance programmes
• Strong understanding of data governance principles
• Good knowledge of GDPR and experience translating regulatory requirements into practical processes
• Strong technical understanding of modern data platforms, including SQL, cloud data warehouses and data transformation tools
• Experience working with data lineage, discovery and classification tools
• Ability to identify governance gaps, assess risks and develop practical improvement plans
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing technical and business teams
