a2dominion is seeking a Head of Data Governance to lead enterprise data governance and management for a regulated organisation. You will shape trusted data, define ownership, stewardship and robust controls, and influence executives to embed accountability across the business.

The role partners with Data Engineering, Analytics, BI, Risk and Compliance to strengthen data quality, metadata, lineage and regulatory alignment, supporting confident, data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Leadership of Data Governance, Data Management or Data Quality functions.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data governance and data management frameworks.
• Experience implementing organisation-wide governance, stewardship and accountability models.
• Deep understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, standards and control frameworks.
• Experience operating within regulated, compliance-led environments with audit and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing governance models that improve confidence, trust and consistency in data.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively at Executive and senior leadership level.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement and continuously evolve the enterprise Data Management and Governance Framework.
• Lead and develop the Data Management and Governance function to support organisational goals and capability growth.
• Establish clear data ownership, stewardship and accountability models across the organisation.
• Embed governance and data controls into business processes rather than applying them retrospectively.
• Own organisational data standards, critical data assets and consistent definitions for KPIs, regulatory metrics and core operational data.
• Lead the resolution of data conflicts, inconsistencies and governance issues across business areas.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-wide metadata management, data lineage and traceability capabilities.
• Act as a key interface for data-related matters with Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance and external regulators, aligning governance with regulatory requirements and risk appetite.
• Work with Data Engineering and Data Product teams to embed governance, standards and controls into platforms and solutions.
• Champion data governance best practice through training, awareness and stakeholder engagement

JOB OVERVIEW

Shape an enterprise-wide approach to trusted data in a visible leadership opportunity influencing operational, regulatory and strategic decision-making.

The Head of Data Governance will report to the Director of Data Analytics & BI and lead organisation-wide governance and data management, embedding ownership, stewardship, standards and accountability.

The Head of Data Governance will partner with Data Engineering, Data Analytics, BI, Risk, Audit and Compliance to strengthen quality, metadata, lineage and controls.

Focused on adoption and trusted decision-making, the Head of Data Governance will help build a culture where data is consistently understood, managed and fit for purpose.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Head of Data Governance include:

• Enterprise Data Framework: Define, implement and continuously evolve the enterprise Data Management and Governance Framework
• Leadership and Capability: Lead and develop the Data Management and Governance function to support organisational goals and capability growth
• Ownership, Stewardship and Accountability: Establish clear data ownership, stewardship and accountability models across the organisation
• Governance by Design: Embed governance and data controls into business processes rather than applying them retrospectively
• Data Standards, Definitions and Metrics: Own organisational data standards, critical data assets and consistent definitions for KPIs, regulatory metrics and core operational data
• Data Quality and Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of data conflicts, inconsistencies and governance issues across business areas
• Metadata, Lineage and Traceability: Develop and maintain enterprise-wide metadata management, data lineage and traceability capabilities
• Risk, Audit and Compliance: Act as a key interface for data-related matters with Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance and external regulators, aligning governance with regulatory requirements and risk appetite
• Engineering and Product Collaboration: Work with Data Engineering and Data Product teams to embed governance, standards and controls into platforms and solutions
• Training and Adoption: Champion data governance best practice through training, awareness and stakeholder engagement

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline
• Previous leadership of Data Governance, Data Management or Data Quality functions
• Strong understanding of enterprise data governance and data management frameworks
• Experience implementing organisation-wide governance, stewardship and accountability models
• Deep understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, standards and control frameworks
• Experience operating within regulated, compliance-led or assurance-driven environmentsStrong knowledge of audit, risk and regulatory requirements relating to organisational data
• Experience developing governance models that improve confidence, trust and consistency in data
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively at Executive and senior leadership level
