Job summary

Protocol Education is partnering with a Leeds secondary school to recruit a Data and Exams Manager. You will oversee student data, assessment information and all examination processes, collaborating with senior leaders, staff, examination boards and external agencies.

The role requires strong Excel skills, GDPR knowledge and experience with MIS systems (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom), plus familiarity with GCSE/A-Level regulations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within a school data or examinations environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
  • Strong understanding of GCSE and/or A-Level examination processes and regulations.
  • Experience analysing and presenting data to a range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience leading or supervising administrative staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration and development of the school's MIS.
  • Maintain accurate student data and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Produce regular reports and analysis to support senior leadership decisions.
  • Manage census returns and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee examinations (internal and external).
  • Recruit, train and manage invigilators.
  • Coordinate access arrangements and post-results services.

About the Role

Protocol Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a thriving and ambitious secondary school in Leeds to recruit an experienced Data and Exams Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of student data, assessment information, and all internal and external examination processes. Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, examination boards, and external agencies, you will ensure the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and reporting across the school.

Key Responsibilities
Data Management
  • Lead the administration and development of the school's Management Information System (MIS).
  • Maintain accurate student data and ensure compliance with GDPR and statutory requirements.
  • Produce regular reports and analysis to support senior leadership decision-making.
  • Manage census returns and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support assessment and progress tracking processes across the school.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on data systems and reporting.
Exams Management
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all internal and external examinations.
  • Act as the school's primary contact with examination boards.
  • Ensure all examinations are administered in accordance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Manage examination entries, amendments, results days, and post-results services.
  • Recruit, train, and manage invigilators.
  • Coordinate access arrangements and special consideration processes where required.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within a school data or examinations environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
  • A strong understanding of GCSE and/or A-Level examination processes and regulations.
  • Experience analysing and presenting data to a range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience managing school census returns.
  • Knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination procedures.
  • Experience leading or supervising administrative staff.
