Stagecoach is seeking a Data Engineering Tech Lead to design and build our data infrastructure across SIP and the data warehouse. You will lead teams, architect platforms, and drive end-to-end data product delivery with a product mindset.

You will work with Data Science & Data Engineering, ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with various business units across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead teams who design, build and deploy reusable data architecture within the Stagecoach Integration Platform (SIP) and the data warehouse
• Architect and design data platforms
• Develop and implement robust Quality Assurance (QA) processes and the principles for the technical teams to abide by to ensure the reliability of the data from the source system(s)
• Lead the teams who deliver data integration, engineering and data infrastructure, delegating tasks where appropriate to other team members
• Work across the Data Science & Data Engineering team to embed processes to guarantee the quality, performance and reliability of the SIP & data warehouse
• Work closely with other members of the Data, Analytics & Insight team to provide full end-to-end data product delivery
• Ensure all solutions are compliant with information security and regulatory obligations
• Be able to work with a product development mindset, forming close workgroups across Data, Analytics & Insight team members in the end-to-end data lifecycle
• Collaborating with colleagues across Central Functions and Operating Companies to deliver data capabilities that support strategic goals.

What we’re looking for

• Strong expertise in python, SQL for data integration and engineering, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP etc.), data warehousing tools and concepts (Redshift, Snowflake etc.)
• Experience of strategic implementation, ownership and development of technology solutions and platforms
• Deep understanding of industry-standard best practice around data and modelling
• Excellent communication skills, being able to translate complex technical information into non-technical language
• Ability and demonstrable experience in leading technical delivery teams
• Relevant academic qualifications (Masters, Degree etc)
