Job summary

Prize Placements is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to own backend data pipelines. You will ingest data from multiple sources, load it into Snowflake, ensure freshness and trust, and collaborate with analysts who consume the data.

Building dashboards is not the primary focus. You will design robust ELT/ETL pipelines, develop Python-based ingestion scripts, configure connectors, and optimise Snowflake queries while monitoring data health and performance.Hybrid/remote UK role with strong growth

Qualifications

• Advanced Snowflake SQL experience.
• Strong Python for data ingestion and ETL scripting.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience.
• Fivetran and Meltano/Singer or similar ETL tools experience.
• Solid REST API, JSON, CSV integrations.
• Basic Bash/Shell scripting knowledge.
• Proficient with Git/version control.
• Experience with pipeline monitoring and data freshness checks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines loading data into Snowflake from APIs, databases, CSV/JSON, and third-party platforms.
• Develop Python-based ingestion and automation scripts for ETL jobs.
• Configure connectors using Fivetran or Meltano/Singer, or comparable tools.
• Write and optimise Snowflake SQL transformations and data modelling.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and data health checks for pipelines.
• Troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis on data issues.
• Use Git for version control across all pipeline code.
• Automate operational tasks with Bash scripting where appropriate.
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions toward Azure/Microsoft Fabric.
