Job summary

Medtronic in Edinburgh seeks a Data Engineer to support an AI and Algorithm team within the ACM R&D unit. You will design, architect, and manage complex data pipelines that power sensor research and patient monitoring tech.

You will own data lifecycle tasks from collection to validation, collaborate with AI engineers and cross-functional teams, and help build robust data infrastructure for advanced analytics and ML applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in database architecture, design, and management.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and scalable data workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive data architecture decisions and continuous improvements in a dynamic R&D environment.

Our team is part of the Acute Care and Monitoring (ACM) Operating Unit, headquartered in Lafayette, Colorado. We’re looking for a versatile and passionate Data Engineer to join our cutting-edge R&D team. In this role, you’ll design, architect, and manage complex research data pipelines that drive innovation across multiple projects: from early-stage exploratory research to the development of world-class patient monitoring technologies. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, contributing across the full data lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your broad technical expertise and hands-on approach will help shape the data infrastructure that powers our AI and algorithm development efforts. This role will be based in our Edinburgh office

Primary Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Working proficiency in C++, C#, or MATLAB.
