Job summary

James Adams is seeking a Product Owner in Glasgow to bridge product, data and technology. You will own and prioritise the backlog, translating business needs into clear priorities for engineering teams to deliver and improve data accessibility.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, engineers and data specialists to shape upcoming work, refine requirements, and support testing and feedback loops. A strong focus on data quality, metadata and data-driven decision making is expected.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience in product ownership or related role in fintech or financial services.
• Ability to translate unclear requests into prioritized work for delivery teams.
• Familiarity with APIs, data models or integrations and discussing requirements with technical colleagues.
• Strong communication skills to align multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritise the product backlog and articulate why certain items matter.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape upcoming work and dependencies.
• Translate complex business/technical requirements into epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Lead backlog refinement, participate in sprint planning and user acceptance testing.
• Engage with product, engineering, data, research and commercial teams to understand workflows and problems.
• Define improvements to data description, search, access and reuse across systems.
• Use SQL or similar tools to investigate datasets and validate requirements.
• Gather feedback on delivered features and guide next improvements.
• Explore prototypes, including AI-enabled ideas, to gather quick feedback.
