Job summary

Orbis Golf is seeking an Academy Head Coach to lead the coaching program and day-to-day operations at Mill Green Golf Club in Hatfield. You will design structured coaching curriculums, mentor staff, and manage lesson schedules while ensuring high-quality, inclusive coaching across ages and abilities.

You will monitor progress using coaching software and data, organize events, and collaborate with Orbis Golf and Mill Green to grow the academy’s offerings and drive business impact.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a golf coach or teaching professional, with a strong track record of developing players across different skill levels.
• Professional coaching certifications or relevant credentials (e.g., PGA or equivalent) are highly desirable.
• Ability to design structured coaching programs, lesson plans, and player development pathways.
• Comfort using technology, coaching software, and performance data to inform training and track progress.
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, mentor, and coordinate a team of coaches.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing inclusive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory coaching.
• Organizational and time-management abilities to handle scheduling, administration, and multiple programs simultaneously.
• Customer-focused mindset, with experience building positive relationships with players, parents, and facility stakeholders.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment and adhering to safeguarding and health and safety standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak golf season hours as required by academy operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead coaching program and day-to-day operations of the academy.
• Design structured coaching curriculums, lesson plans, and player development pathways.
• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate coaching staff; coordinate lesson schedules; communicate with players, parents, and facility management.
• Monitor player progress using data and coaching software; organize coaching events and group programs.
• Collaborate with Orbis Golf and The Club at Mill Green to support business growth, retention, and continuous improvement of coaching offerings.
