Job summary

Exponential-e Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a data centre engineer to install, patch and configure hardware across network, server and storage environments in managed hosting facilities and client sites, ensuring SLA compliance and robust performance.

The role requires hands-on deployment, on-call availability, and collaboration with Data Centre Managers to drive improvements and maintain high standards. Occasional travel and a UK-centric footprint are involved.

Qualifications

• Experience in Managed Hosting/Data Centre environments.
• Experience deploying server, storage and network hardware.
• Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Install, patch and configure bespoke environments for vendor hardware.
• Use ticketing systems and uphold fault resolution SLAs for troubleshooting and replacements.
• Install, configure and load-balance Intelligent PDUs for power monitoring.
• Troubleshoot LAN connectivity issues and support remote access to client environments.
• Troubleshoot cabling links between racks and coordinate with Cabling teams.
• Build, maintain and deploy DCIM software for 100% adoption in Exponential-e Data Centres.
• Collaborate across departments to improve procedures and knowledge sharing.
• Drive operational excellence and implement procedure improvements with Data Centre Managers.
• Produce monthly reports on Space, Power and Cabling capacity to plan expansions.
• Adhere to change control procedures for moves, adds and changes in Data Centre environments.
• Maintain professional discipline and adhere to ISO 9001, 27001, 20000 and ITIL standards.
• Manage access, remote hands and delivery tickets for visitors and third-party technicians.
