Overall purpose of the job:

Ensuring the smooth operations of the Data Centre through various responsibilities, such as the installation, patching, and configuration of bespoke environments for internal and external vendor solutions using a variety of Network, Server, and Storage Hardware manufacturers.

Key responsibilities for this job:
  1. Installation, patching of bespoke environments for vendor solutions using various hardware manufacturers.
  2. Use internal ticketing systems and uphold fault resolution SLAs related to troubleshooting, configuration, and replacement of components within managed services hardware (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, Storage Arrays, etc.).
  3. Installation, configuration, and load balancing of Intelligent PDUs for power monitoring.
  4. Basic troubleshooting of structured cabling links between racks, identifying faults, and liaising with cabling teams for repairs and re-testing.
  5. Build, utilize, maintain, and deploy custom DCIM software, ensuring 100% adoption and accuracy across Data Centres.
  6. Collaborate with various departments and external partners to improve procedures and share knowledge.
  7. Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement by establishing and maintaining procedure documentation.
  8. Produce monthly reports on Space, Power, and Structured Cabling capacity to facilitate timely expansion and deployment.
  9. Participate in change control procedures during critical updates to the environment.
  10. Maintain compliance with policies of third-party Data Centre providers and hosts.
  11. Conduct periodic hardware and cabling audits to ensure system accuracy.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  13. Maintain professionalism and discipline within Data Centre environments.
  14. Adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000 standards, and ITIL best practices.
  15. Manage access, remote hands, and delivery tickets for visitors and third-party technicians.
  16. Monitor ticketing systems for swift responses within SLAs.
  17. Keep Data Centres clean and presentable.
Knowledge and experience required:
  • Minimum 3+ years in a Managed Hosting/Public and/or Private Cloud Data Centre environment.
  • Proficient in server, storage, and network deployment and support.
  • Excellent cabling standards with attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Data Centre M&E design, power, cooling, and redundancy.
  • Experience with structured cabling deployment of copper and fibre (desirable).
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and email software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic about delivering high-quality service.
  • Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.
  • Full UK driving license and personal vehicle required.
