Job summary

HDR in Manchester seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our data centre and mission critical projects. You will work with engineering teams to develop detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates across the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include concept through detailed design, equipment sizing, and active engagement during construction, with a focus on quality, regulatory compliance and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical system design for commercial/institutional buildings.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated leadership, team coordination and project management experience.
• Experience with architectural/engineering or consulting firms.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design.
• Ensure all design projects and reports meet quality standards and regulatory requirements; conduct in-house design reviews.
• Motivate and manage staff within the group to optimize performance.
• Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
• Implement Company Health and Safety; ensure designs comply with CDM regulations.
