Job summary

PRS is seeking a Senior Technical Operations professional to own the lifecycle replacement strategy across a portfolio of live data centres. You will identify ageing infrastructure, build investment cases and lead replacement programmes through design, procurement, commissioning and handover.

This role requires strong engineering credentials, experience in critical electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while keeping safety and operational continuity

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience across Data Centre Engineering, Technical Operations, Asset Management, Lifecycle Replacement or Capital Projects.
• Experience delivering asset lifecycle or replacement programmes.
• Experience replacing or upgrading complex M&E infrastructure within live environments.
• Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure and resilience principles.
• Experience developing CAPEX budgets and business cases.
• Strong commercial understanding including procurement, tendering, forecasting and change control.
• Experience taking projects from definition to handover.
• Ability to present technical and financial recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• HNC/HND or degree in engineering desirable.
• PM qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop a multi-year Lifecycle Replacement Programme with budgets, risk and investment strategy.
• Assess asset condition, criticality, remaining life, obsolescence and operational risk.
• Develop CAPEX proposals and investment recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Lead complex M&E replacement and upgrade programmes within live data centre environments.
• Provide technical oversight across HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, BMS/EPMS.
• Develop outage, isolation, temporary plant, contingency and rollback strategies.
• Manage consultants, contractors, OEMs and suppliers from scope to completion.
• Lead procurement, tendering, commercial management, cost forecasting, change control and governance.
• Ensure FAT, SAT, commissioning and operational readiness.
• Coordinate handover into Operations with asset registers, drawings, O&M docs, training and spares.
• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, asset reliability, resilience and whole-life cost.
• Provide technical challenge and assurance to consultants and manufacturers.
• Maintain safety and risk management throughout each programme.
