Opticore IT is seeking a Data Centre Engineer to join our London/Slough operations for an initial 6‑month period with scope to extend inside IR35. The role is hands‑on, involving rack moves, cabling, hardware installs, and BAU incident support across multiple sites.

You will coordinate goods inwards, supervise third‑party contractors, and collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure safe, compliant changes with full audit trails.

Qualifikationen

• Hands-on data centre operations and rack/power management experience.
• Ability to coordinate goods inwards and verify deliveries.
• Experience supervising third-party contractors on site.

Aufgaben

• Rack and derack servers, storage and networking gear; prep target racks with power/data.
• Coordinate goods inwards, inspect deliveries and maintain inventory.
• Supervise third party contractors to avoid service disruption.
• Work with architects to specify racks, space, cooling and power.
• Establish cabling requirements for new/relocated equipment.
• Execute hardware moves and changes within change control and audit trails.
• Provide remote hands support for BAU and incident handling.
• Respond to infrastructure alarms and support emergency hardware swaps.
• Maintain rack diagrams, port maps and asset data in Device42.
• Collaborate on data centre design and use Jira/Freshservice for work tracking.
