Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is seeking a Datacenter Technician to support critical infrastructure across on-site customer data centres in Slough. This hands-on role involves working with servers, hardware, cabling, and diagnostics under the guidance of experienced engineers in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

The ideal candidate has strong interest in IT and data center environments, knowledge of server hardware, and 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Interest in IT, hardware and data center environments.
• Knowledge of computer/server hardware.
• 1–3 years data center technician experience preferred.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, CCENT, CCNA, MCP/MSCE preferred.
• Willingness to learn and work hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain hardware, cabling, and IT systems.
• Perform data center hardware setups, startups, and shutdowns following instructions.
• Diagnose and resolve issues, replace faulty components efficiently.
• Ensure proper grounding, labelling, and cabling per safety protocols.
• Communicate and escalate incidents as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through information sharing and meetings.
• Take ownership of service quality and user experience.
• Assist in training on new processes, tools, and issue resolution.
• Support incident management to minimise customer impact.

We’re hiring a Datacenter Technician to support critical infrastructure across on-site customer data centres. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with servers, hardware, cabling, and diagnostics while learning from experienced engineers in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Contract

Onsite in Slough

12-month rolling contract

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and maintain hardware, cabling, and IT systems, with expertise in at least one field.
• Perform data centre hardware setups, startups, and shutdowns following specific instructions.
• Diagnose and resolve issues, replacing faulty components efficiently.
• Ensure proper grounding, labelling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Communicate and elevate incidents as necessary.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through information sharing and regular meetings.
• Take ownership of service quality and user experience.
• Conduct training on new processes, tools, and issue resolution.
• Assist in conducting failure analysis and participate in new product training.
• Support incident management to minimise customer impact.

Requirements:

• Strong interest in IT, hardware, or data center environments
• Knowledge of computer/server hardware
• A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and willingness to learn
• Comfortable working in a physical, hands-on technical role
• Ideally 1-3 years of data center technician experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, CCENT, CCNA, MCP/MSCE are preferred.
