Opticore IT is seeking a Data Centre Engineer to perform hands-on data centre operations across multiple sites in Leeds, Manchester and Gateshead. The role is a 6-month contract with scope to extend inside IR35.

You will deliver data centre and apparatus room project work, manage rack moves, cabling, hardware installation and decommissioning, and provide on-site BAU support when required.

Qualifikationen

• Hands-on data centre operations experience.
• Ability to manage rack moves and power/data cabling.
• Experience supervising third party contractors on site.

Aufgaben

• Rack and derack servers, storage arrays, networking equipment, cabling and patch panels.
• Coordinate goods inwards, inspect deliveries and maintain asset inventory.
• Supervise third party contractors on site ensuring safe, accurate work with no live disruption.
• Work with architects to specify racks, space, power, cooling and load limits before moves.
• Establish and validate cabling and connectivity requirements for new equipment.
• Execute physical changes within change control with full audit trail.
• Provide remote hands support for BAU and incident response.
• Respond to infrastructure alarms and support emergency hardware swaps.
• Maintain records of racks, CARs and asset data in Device42.
• Collaborate with data centre teams and use Jira and Freshservice in daily calls.
