Job summary

ONNEC Group is seeking a Data Centre Engineer to join our client-facing team. The role focuses on IMACD and incident resolution within Workplace Technologies and Data Centre spaces, delivering changes, troubleshooting and service restoration to meet client requirements.

Based in the UK, you’ll work 24x7 shifts on a 4-on/4-off pattern, with travel to data centres as needed. You’ll patch, upgrade and refresh equipment while adhering to health, safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in data centres and high-risk environments.
  • Sound knowledge of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts.
  • Competent with MS Office and Helpdesk/Service Delivery applications.
  • Reliable individual able to work under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns and travel as required.
  • Clear communication at all levels and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Change control management.
  • Incident management and resolution.
  • Management and tracking of assets.
  • Supervision and escorting of 3rd party vendors.
  • Installation and decommission of network hardware and structured cabling.
  • Compliance with ONNEC and client health & safety procedures.
  • Compliance with manufacturers, ONNEC and client quality standards.
  • Compliance with client and Support Services approved processes.

We currently have an opportunity available for a Data Centre Engineer to join us.

Working within a prestigious client data centre, the position is very customer orientated and requires a strong focus on customer requirements.

As our Data Centre Engineer, you will deliver IMACD and Incident Resolution Services within Workplace Technologies and Data Centre Operational spaces.

The duties range from small alterations such as patching and fault finding to performing large-scale equipment and device refreshes including new installs, decommissions, moves, and maintain functions.

Data Centre Engineers work on shifts that contribute towards providing support services 24x7x365 and report to the local Service Delivery Manager.

Please note successful candidates would be required to work a shift pattern such as:

  • 4 Days on, 4 Days off - 12Hour shifts (7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am)

  • Experience of working in high-risk environments and Data Centres
  • Prepared to travel
  • Sound Knowledge of Infrastructure Technologies & Networking Concepts
  • Competent in MS Office and Helpdesk/Service Delivery Applications
  • A reliable individual
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • A flexible approach to shift patterns
  • The ability to communicate clearly at all levels
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and administrative skills
