Job summary

AJ Group is seeking an Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for its London data centre portfolio. The role requires deep expertise in high-density power distribution and mission-critical systems, with leadership responsibilities across design, commissioning and operations.

The successful candidate will act as the primary technical authority, guiding engineering teams, reviewing complex designs, and collaborating with sales for RFPs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electrical engineering, with 5+ years in data centres or mission-critical infra.
• Chartered Engineer status or professional registration.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, BS 7671, NFPA, IEEE, and Uptime Institute Tier standards.

Responsibilities

• Design leadership for HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, back-up generators, and switchgear ensuring redundancy.
• Draft basis of design documents and technical specifications to protect engineering standards.
• Monitor data centre infrastructure for energy savings, scalability and system optimisation.
• Lead root-cause analysis for electrical faults, outages or inefficiencies.
• Support sales/RFP with technical expertise and selection of design teams.
• Oversee commissioning and ongoing site operations to ensure design intent.
