Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking an experienced Data Centre Engineer to manage critical M&E infrastructure in Crawley. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, inspect plant, fault-find, and monitor BMS alarms to ensure continuous data centre operation.

Role includes working with generators, chillers, HVAC and LV distribution, plus HSE compliance and RAMS review. Training and progression opportunities are offered, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining electrical and mechanical systems in a data centre or critical environment.
• Practical knowledge of generators, cooling, HVAC and LV electrical distribution.
• Experience with planned and reactive maintenance and fault-finding.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Willingness to complete the AP15 course within the first 12 months.
• Ability to meet BS7858 security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on critical M&E infrastructure.
• Maintain generators, chillers, HVAC, CRAH units, dry air coolers and ventilation systems.
• Monitor the Building Management System (BMS), respond to alarms and identify potential equipment failures.
• Complete plant inspections, fault-finding and emergency response activities.
• Support HV/LV technical operations and maintain safe working practices.
• Assist with Permit to Work procedures and supervise subcontractors on site.
• Review RAMS and ensure work is completed safely.
• Complete shift reports, maintenance records and compliance checks.
• Ensure critical systems remain stable and operational, minimising downtime.
