Job summary

Sphere Solutions has an opportunity for an experienced Design Manager on a major data centre project in Newport. This short-term contract spans approximately 2-3 months with immediate start, responsible for coordinating design across multiple disciplines and ensuring timely delivery in line with the project programme.

The role requires strong experience in major construction projects, MEP coordination, and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager on major construction projects.
• Previous data centre experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of MEP and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work to tight programmes and deadlines.
• Strong technical and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple disciplines.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and the client team.
• Review and coordinate drawings, specifications, and technical information.
• Identify and resolve design issues and clashes.
• Monitor design deliverables against the project programme.
• Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes, and approvals.
• Ensure design complies with project requirements, relevant standards, and regulations.
• Attend design coordination and project meetings.
• Support the construction team with technical and design-related queries.
