Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks an on-site Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician to operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems in a critical data centre. The role includes hands-on troubleshooting, routine rounds, and supporting a team of Data Centre Operations technicians.

The position requires the ability to obtain UK Government Security Clearance, a willingness to work shifts, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence in a high-uptime environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of network design and low voltage cabling.
• Experience in data center engineering.
• Can bend, twist, and maneuver in tight spaces; must be able to work at heights and on ladders.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs.
• Perform limited maintenance tasks (filters, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, PDU and ATS replacements).
• Provide support to Data Centre Operations technicians.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed during work.
• Take daily readings of mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Use CMMS to manage building workflows and spare parts inventory.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation.
• Comply with physical security procedures and policies.
