Data Center Engineering Operations Trainee, AWS Data Center Engineering Operations

The Data Center Engineering Operations Trainee will be responsible for Data Center Engineering Operations within an Amazon Data Center, including risk management, mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting.

This position is a 6-month fixed-term hire with the possibility of becoming a full-time role.

Responsibilities may include:
  1. Assist the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  2. Maintain performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  3. Generate Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets for DCEO as directed.
  4. Contribute to documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
  5. Assist with the installation of racks and the provision of power and cooling within constraints.
  6. Participate in routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
  7. Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new facilities.
  8. Manage Facility assets and support infrastructure and inventory asset management as directed.
  9. Participate in Construction and Operational Meetings as required.
  10. Assist with Work Order compliance and review of contractual SLAs.
  11. Interface with Infra Ops teams for daily operational requirements.
  12. Assist in resolving infrastructure engineering or service issues.
  13. Deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  14. Meet daily operational hours, shift, and on-call response requirements during shift rotations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Facilities Management mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Awareness of Physical Security protocols.
  • Proficiency with Office Suite and computer literacy.
  • Physical ability to lift rack equipment and work in cramped or elevated spaces while following safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or Technical Certification (Military/Trade School) with relevant experience.
  • Data Center Engineering/Operations experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
