Data Center Construction Director - Hyperscale Projects

Job summary

Turner & Townsend is recruiting a Project Director to join our Data Centre team. This client-facing role leads large-scale data centre projects within a professional team, supporting strategic commissions and high-profile initiatives on a hyperscale project valued at £1 billion plus.

You will oversee feasibility, design, construction and completion, implement project strategies and budgets, manage risks, and coordinate with clients, contractors and designers to deliver successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years’ experience.
• Relevant qualification (project management or construction management).
• Member of a chartered institute e.g., RICS / CIOB although not essential.
• Good knowledge of construction industry and Data Centre sector themes.
• Good knowledge of project lifecycle and business case approvals process.
• Track record of delivering the construction of hyperscale Data Centre projects from inception to completion.
• Experience of master planning/strategic estate development and capital project planning for business case compilation is desirable.
• Demonstrable experience in client-facing roles at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing large-scale and complex data centre projects in the real estate sector, from feasibility, design, construction and completion.
• Developing and implementing project strategies, plans and large scale budgets on complex construction projects.
• Establishing and maintaining effective processes and systems to be utilised throughout the project.
• Monitoring and reporting on project progress and other performance indicators.
• Managing and mitigating risks and issues.
• Preparing and delivering written project communication materials.
• Preparing and presenting formal project progress and other reports.
• Managing and coordinating the client, contractors and designers.
• Attending and chairing meetings and drafting minutes, etc.
• Developing and delivering presentation materials for client pitches, etc.
• Managing and updating key information into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
• Providing thought leadership and insights on the latest trends and innovations in the Data Centre real estate sector.
