Our smart integrated technology solutions transform the way people, organisations, and places work. Delivering through five UK regional offices, we provide long-term, multi-year partnerships in managed services and support, keeping organisations moving in the right direction.

Responsibilities

Our customer specialises in the design, build, and operation of high integrity data centres, developed to provide optimum security and availability of services at key locations such as Corsham and Farnborough. By joining our ‘Enterprise’ operational team as a Fibre and Copper Engineer, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and installing critical facilities infrastructure as part of a close-knit team delivering outstanding service. This role involves Business as Usual works (BAU), ICT projects, and various other tasks related to the installation, termination, and testing of Fibre and Copper cabling systems, Adds, Moves & Changes (AMC), Patching & Labelling, ICT blanking, and specialist data centre containment systems.

As a Cabling Engineer, your responsibilities include:

  • Fibre cabling installations of multimode and single mode fibre within data halls/centres or similar environments.
  • Installation of structured cabling (Cat6 UTP/STP & Cat6A UTP/STP) within data halls/centres or similar environments.
  • Terminating, testing, and labelling cables within patch panels and data outlets.
  • Installation of floor-mounted communication cabinets and server racks within data halls, including ICT blanking and cable management for hot and cold aisle containment.
  • Performing cable moves, adds, and changes (AMC) to existing systems as required.
  • Patching data and server cabinets according to client spreadsheets, patching schedules, and cabinet layouts, ensuring all AMC activities are approved, correctly recorded, labelled, and reported.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to compliance requirements for Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Information Security, and Data Protection relevant to your role.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Efficient and neat splicing, terminating, and labelling of fibre cables within panels and boxes.
  • Proficiency in using Fluke multimode/singlemode testers and OTDR equipment.
  • Ability to trace and fault-find data cables using Fluke test meters and test data cabling effectively.
  • Commitment to working safely in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
  • Capability to produce clear documentation, updates, and reports.
  • Good time management and a focus on quality to complete tasks safely and to high standards within deadlines.
  • A customer-focused approach with a proactive and flexible working style.
  • Security Clearance: The role requires SC Security Level Clearance. Existing clearance is advantageous but can be facilitated for the right candidate.

North offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and opportunities for progression. Further details will be discussed during the application process.
