Responsibilities

Our customer specialises in the design, build, and operation of high-integrity data centres, developed to provide maximum security and service availability within key locations at Corsham and Farnborough. By joining our Enterprise operational team as a Cabling Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our operations, maintaining and installing critical facilities infrastructure as part of a close-working team delivering outstanding service. This role involves varied tasks including Business as Usual works (BAU), ICT projects, and other initiatives related to the installation, termination, and testing of Fibre and Copper cabling systems, Adds, Moves & Changes (AMC), Patching & Labelling, ICT blanking, and specialist data centre containment systems.

You will be responsible for:

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Fibre cabling installations of multimode and single-mode fibre within data halls/centres or similar environments.
  • Installation of structured cabling (Cat6 UTP/STP & Cat6A UTP/STP) within data halls/centres or similar environments.
  • Terminating, testing, and labelling cables within patch panels and data outlets.
  • Installing floor-mounted communication cabinets and server racks within data halls, including ICT blanking and cable management for hot and cold aisle containment.
  • Performing cable moves and changes (Add, Moves, and Changes) as required.
  • Managing patching of data and server cabinets according to client schedules, ensuring all changes are approved, correctly documented, labelled, and reported.

Additionally, you will need to:

  • Adhere to compliance requirements for Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Information Security, and Data Protection.

Skills and Experience:

  • Efficiently splice, terminate, and label fibre cables within panels and boxes.
  • Operate Fluke multimode/single-mode testers and OTDR equipment proficiently.
  • Trace and fault-find data cables using Fluke testers.
  • Test data cabling with Fluke data testers.
  • Work safely, following all Health & Safety regulations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Provide clear documentation, updates, and reports.
  • Manage time effectively and focus on quality to complete tasks safely and to high standards within deadlines.
  • Be customer-focused with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain SC Security Level Clearance; existing clearance is advantageous but will be facilitated for the right candidate.
