Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Data Business Analyst to join its Data & AI team in Manchester on a hybrid basis, mixing remote and in-office work. You will translate business needs into data requirements for data products, reporting and insights across Commercial, Pricing, Range and Promotions.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, map data flows, document processes and deliver specifications for Data Engineering and BI teams to enable meaningful business decisions and continuous improvement.

Job description

We're looking for a Data Business Analyst to join our Data & AI team and help us turn business challenges into data-driven solutions. Working within our Commercial, Pricing, Range and Promotions domain, you'll work closely with business stakeholders to understand how data is used today, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate business needs into clear requirements that enable our technical teams to deliver valuable data products, reporting and insights. Why this role matters Data plays a critical role in helping Co-op make better decisions for our business, colleagues and members. We've recently built a new enterprise data platform and are now bringing together data from across the organisation to unlock greater value and insight. This role is at the heart of that journey. You'll help shape some of our most important commercial data products, working with teams across pricing, promotions, finance and technology to solve complex problems, improve ways of working and help deliver meaningful business outcomes. • Work with stakeholders across Commercial, Pricing, Promotions and Finance teams to understand business challenges, objectives and data needs
• Research and document current processes, reporting, data flows and decision-making activities
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews and user journey mapping sessions to gather and refine requirements
• Define future requirements, outcomes and opportunities for improvement, helping teams understand the value of proposed changes
• Translate business requirements into clear, detailed specifications that can be delivered by Data Engineering, Business Intelligence and other technical teams
• Support planning, estimation and prioritisation activities, working closely with Product Managers and delivery teams
• Collaborate with colleagues across Data & AI, including Data Engineering, Data Governance, Data Quality and SAP teams, to ensure solutions meet business needs
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis practices, tools and ways of working across the wider team
  Significant experience in a Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst or similar role, working on data, reporting or technology initiatives
• Strong requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to work confidently with both business and technical audiences
• Experience mapping business processes, user journeys and data flows, and translating findings into clear documentation and requirements
• A strong understanding of data and analytics environments, with the ability to interpret how data is captured, transformed and used to support business decisions
• Experience working with SAP data and an understanding of how business requirements translate into SAP data structures and processes
• Excellent communication, questioning and structured research skills, with the ability to bring clarity to complex or ambiguous problems
• Proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and process mapping software, with experience working in agile or multidisciplinary delivery environments
• £45,000 - £55,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)
