Job summary

Leeds Conservatoire in Leeds is seeking a Dance Coordinator to lead, coordinate and deliver exceptional dance training within the School of Drama across BA Acting, BA Actor Musician, BA Musical Theatre and Masters programmes. You will coordinate Dance Skills modules, deliver specialist teaching, and contribute to productions and industry projects, working with a team of Coordinators to ensure a high-quality student experience.

Interviews week of 2 November 2026.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of dance training across styles relevant to Musical Theatre and Actor training.
  • Significant professional performance and choreographic experience.
  • Experience in HE teaching and music education understanding.
  • Collaborative approach with teaching artists and colleagues.

About The Role

Leeds Conservatoire is looking to appoint a Dance Coordinator to lead, coordinate and deliver exceptional dance training within the School of Drama (BA Acting, BA Actor Musician, BA Musical Theatre, and our suite of Masters programmes).

The role will also contribute to the development of dance provision for future courses as part of the school's portfolio.

The Dance Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of Dance Skills modules across the School's programmes, as well as delivering specialist teaching and taking a creative and choreographic role in productions, showcases and industry-facing projects across the academic year. The Dance Coordinator works closely with a team of discipline-specific Coordinators to ensure a quality, collaborative student experience.

Located in the heart of the city’s vibrant cultural quarter, Leeds Conservatoire is a contemporary conservatoire dedicated to preparing performers, musicians and producers for successful careers in the creative industries.

Interviews will be held week commencing 2 November 2026.

What You Will Do
  • Provide operational leadership for the department’s strategic priorities and contribute to curriculum development across current and future programmes.
  • Manage programme modules, including timetabling, assessments, material selection, schemes of work and associated resources.
  • Deliver teaching across agreed curriculum areas, in line with relevant specialisms and departmental priorities.
  • Coordinate student groups, lead weekly programme meetings, resolve issues and ensure a high-quality student experience.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Learning Enhancement, Marketing & Recruitment, Student Health & Wellbeing, AV, Facilities, Student Administration and Examinations, to support students and departmental initiatives.
About You
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of dance training across a range of styles relevant to Musical Theatre and Actor training, alongside significant professional performance and choreographic experience.
  • Extensive experience within the music industry and HE sector, with a strong understanding of music education and experience of managing HE courses and delivering higher education teaching.
  • Highly collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with teaching artists and colleagues to deliver excellence in multidisciplinary performance training.
  • Excellent people management, communication, digital, IT, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to solve problems effectively under pressure.
  • Creative and innovative, with the ability to develop original ideas, support budget management and hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Degree in relevant subject or equivalent qualification/experience
