Job summary

Leeds Conservatoire seeks an experienced live events professional to join the Events Production Team as Events Technical Manager, delivering technical support for academic and professional programmes.

You will lead live event operations, manage technical staff, and ensure safety and compliance across performance spaces, with a focus on efficient delivery and high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical operation within Performance facilities.
  • Lead delivery of live events, performances and workshops.
  • Maintain and secure technical equipment; manage inventory and budgets as applicable.
  • Act as Duty Manager for public concerts and events as required.
  • Liaise with Head of Live Event Production on staffing and equipment budgets.

About The Role

Leeds Conservatoire is seeking to engage the services of an experienced live events professional to join the Events Production Team as

Leeds Conservatoire is seeking to engage the services of an experienced live events professional to join the Events Production Team as Events Technical Manager and manage the delivery of live events and technical support for both academic and professional programme.

The role will involve the front-line management of the live events technicians and actively ensuring all performances and workshops occurring in internal and external performance spaces are supported in the most time efficient manner. Managing equipment and stock within performances areas and developing lighting, sound and stage systems ensuring compliance with legislation.

Interviews will be held week commencing 19 October 2026.

What You Will Do
  • Responsibility for technical operation within the Conservatoire’s Performance facilities.
  • Lead the technical provision in the delivery of live events, performances and Workshops across the Conservatoire
  • Responsible for ensuring the security and maintenance to the highest standard for all the Conservatoire’s technical equipment and for ensuring that a comprehensive inventory is kept of all relevant equipment
  • Act as Duty Manager for public concerts and events as required
  • To liaise with the Head of Live Event Production in the control and application of staffing and equipment budgets, ensuring the proper administration of all procedures
About You
  • Extensive experience of Lighting and Sound systems and there rigging and
  • Proficient in performance venue technical management and practical stage operations, with substantial experience in live performance environments, including lighting and sound systems, recording, rigging, programming, operation, fault-finding, lighting rigging/focusing and live sound mixing, while consistently delivering a high-quality customer service.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Health & Safety requirements
  • Experienced in supervising and leading technical staff, working effectively under pressure and coordinating competing demands while maintaining high standards of service and safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
