Job summary

Gravitas Group in Manchester is seeking a (Senior) Cyber Development Underwriter to join our growing Professional Risks team. The role focuses on underwriting cyber risks for SME and Mid-Market clients, with responsibilities spanning risk analysis, pricing, and contract negotiations in line with underwriting strategy.

You will work with brokers, help grow the Cyber product in the UK, and participate in client visits and market events.

(Senior) Cyber Development Underwriter - UK SME -Manchester office

Overview

This role represents a great opportunity to start in a new team with exciting potential whilst also working alongside a large and well-established Professional Risks team in the UK and Cyber team in the US.

The successful candidate will be provided with a structured development plan which will focus on the core capabilities of the role. There is an expectation of progression within this position as the team grows.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite profitable cyber insurance risks for SME / Mid-Market business clients (risks up to £100m revenue), including all tasks associated with risk and coverage analysis such as pricing and contract negotiations and in line with our underwriting strategy and guidelines.


• Deliver great service to brokers. Supporting the development of the Cyber product and proposition in the UK through broker engagement, both virtually and in-person.


• Identify new opportunities to expand through pro-active business development and building strong relationships with Brokers. This involves physical visitation to brokers, analysis of broker production, and delivering benchmarks and metrics to broker partners.


• Promote cyber capabilities in client and broker meetings, conferences and market events and establishing the company as a reliable, responsible and knowledgeable partner.


• Write new business, renewals, (both open market & online referrals) as well as also supporting the Professional Risks Underwriters with Cyber policies and opportunities.

Skills and Experience Specification

Essential

• Extensive experience of underwriting Cyber business, either standalone Cyber or alongside PI.


• Demonstrated business development skills as well as technical underwriting knowledge.


• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.


• High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the wider team.


• Excellent written and oral communication skills.


• Excellent negotiation and relationship skills.


• High degree of accuracy and diligence.

Desirable

• ACII qualification or looking to progress towards this.


• Strong presence within and strong understanding of the SME Cyber Market.
