Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Cyber Security Incident Responder (IR) to join our dynamic and growing team. The role involves maintaining the security and resilience of Element’s digital infrastructure by managing and progressing cyber incidents. This is a unique opportunity to be a founding member of Cyber Defence. You will work closely with key stakeholders at all levels to develop a robust 24/7 operational cyber defence capability. Applications from those with experience in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) are encouraged.

This position requires on-call duty and overtime during serious cyber attacks. Location in the UK is flexible.

Responsibilities:
  • Help build Element’s IR capability following industry frameworks such as NIST and SANS.
  • Govern and coordinate cyber incidents, acting as lead incident manager and technical authority. Conduct investigations, determine root causes, assess impact, and recommend remediation.
  • Collaborate with IT, Privacy, Legal teams, and senior stakeholders. Prepare and present incident reports.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Perform digital forensics, malware analysis, and assess incident risks.
  • Work with the Senior Manager Incident Response to develop cyber defence metrics and KPIs.
  • Stay updated on cyber threats and security technologies.
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders like law enforcement and cybersecurity vendors.
Key Skills:
  • At least five years’ experience in cybersecurity.
  • 3-5 years experience in Digital Forensics and managing complex Cyber Incident responses.
  • Experience in large, complex, federated organizations, understanding cyber defence in both public and private sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC) are desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Cultural sensitivity and social flexibility in a global environment.
  • Experience communicating complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a security-minded approach to supporting business growth.
  • Knowledge of SIEM tools and advanced hunting queries.
Experience Needed:
  • Managing serious cyber incidents as a Digital Forensics Incident Responder.
  • Working effectively within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Understanding security monitoring, intrusion detection, prevention, and control systems.
  • Technical expertise in networks, malware analysis, digital forensics, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills with senior stakeholders.
