Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to protect the Council's digital services and information. You will work across infrastructure, network, and Microsoft 365 teams to embed security across the technology estate.

You will investigate incidents, assess threats, and provide expert advice to maintain secure, resilient services for residents and staff. Hybrid working arrangements are available with occasional site attendance as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cyber security analysis within a public sector environment.
  • Ability to identify and respond to cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Strong understanding of security monitoring and incident response practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced cyber security analysis across the Council's digital and technology estate.
  • Investigate cyber security incidents and identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Assess risks and support remediation and mitigation activities.
  • Monitor security events and analyse intelligence to inform decision-making.
  • Advise on security improvements and promote best practices across teams.

Rotherham Council's Digital Services team is expanding its Cyber Security function, and we are looking for a skilled and motivated Cyber Security Analyst to help protect and strengthen the Council's digital services. This is an opportunity to play a significant role in protecting the Council's technology, information and digital services

As part of a growing Cyber Security team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of modern, secure and resilient technology by helping to identify, assess and respond to cyber threats, support security improvements, strengthen compliance, and promote good security practices across the organisation. Working alongside infrastructure, network, Microsoft 365 and other digital service teams, you will help ensure security is embedded throughout our technology estate.

This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within a forward-thinking public service organisation. You will help shape and improve the Council's cyber security capabilities, support the delivery of secure digital transformation. The role will help ensure those services remain secure, resilient and trusted by residents, customers and staff.

The role will be based in Riverside House, Rotherham. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available, subject to the requirements of each role and the Council’s working location policy. There might be occasions that may require attendance at Council sites, participation in out-of-hours arrangements or support for operational service needs.

This role will provide advanced cyber security analysis across the Council's digital and technology environment, helping to protect critical services, systems and information from an evolving threat landscape. The successful candidate will investigate cyber security incidents, identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities, assess risks, and support the delivery of effective remediation and mitigation activities. They will play a key role in monitoring security events, analysing intelligence from a variety of sources, and providing expert advice to support informed decision-making.

This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
