As a Customs Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, your job is to optimise logistics to keep our global supply chains running smoothly. But the impact of your work goes beyond that. In fact, your expertise makes both special and ordinary moments possible for people around the world. For example, your work could ensure that a global product launch happens on time—such as ethically sourced beauty and bath products stocked at local stores for your loved one's valued self-care routine. It's import and export work, but it's also so much more than we imagine.

Kuehne+Nagel are currently looking to recruit for the above vacancy within the Customs Team. The role is to support all administrative activities within the Customs Department to enable the servicing of internal and external customers. The role reports to Customs Supervisor.

How you create impact

  • Manage complex customs procedures and requirements, including CFSP, SFD, SDI, Intrastat, customs warehousing, excise goods, CAP goods, licensable products and transit documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant customs regulations, procedures and HMRC requirements, supporting the maintenance of the company’s
  • Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs legislation, regulatory changes and operational procedures to ensure continued compliance and provide accurate guidance.
  • Provide expert customs-related advice and support to internal colleagues and external customers, responding proactively to enquiries and delivering clear, accurate and timely information.
  • Identify, investigate, report and resolve errors or discrepancies in customs declarations and associated documentation.
  • Manage, control and distribute relevant customs documentation and information, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely processing.
  • Liaise effectively with customers and colleagues across operational teams and departments to coordinate customs activities, resolve queries and maintain high standards of customer service.
What we would like you to bring

  • Good knowledge of customs regulations and procedures, including CFSP and Intrastat.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident and professional approach.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and similar applications.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and query management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain information, interpret data and identify and escape issues appropriately.
  • Customer-focused, proactive and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Previous customer service experience, with the ability to manage enquiries efficiently and professionally.
What's in it for you
  • You can join the contributory Kuehne+Nagel pension plan and enjoy our Route 2 Rewards scheme, which offers everything from discounts, benefit information, recognition and its own wellbeing centre.
  • We care for our colleagues (and their immediate family) with our employee assistance programme providing access to 24/7 GP, legal and financial advice along with mental health counselling.
