Job summary

AWE is seeking a Customs and Shipping Specialist to deliver its international shipping requirements, including imports and exports, in a fully onsite role at Aldermaston, Reading. The role requires working within the Logistics Group and collaborating with overseas offices and suppliers to meet regulatory and contractual obligations.

Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of shipping experience with customs compliance, the ability to obtain Government Developed Vetting, and knowledge of

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a shipping role involving customs and trade compliancy
• Able to attain and maintain Government Developed Vetting security status
• Experience with defence shipping/logistics is advantageous
• Experience with import/export for EU post-BREXIT, particularly by road
• Ability to work onsite in a priority-changing environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver AWE's international shipping requirements (exports and imports)
• Apply internal Customs and Trade Control policy to meet external regulatory obligations
• Maintain high standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality; be a great team player
• Support Shipping Operations Manager to deliver improvement and change programmes
• Communicate with internal customers and overseas offices
• Coordinate with external suppliers to arrange and book shipping by road, air and courier
• Attend and contribute to operational meetings
• Keep records, archiving and financial administration up to date; provide data reporting
• Keep internal training up to date
• The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position
